Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes the deep connection between mind and body. The word "somatic" comes from the Greek "soma," meaning body. This approach understands that our experiences, especially difficult or traumatic ones, are stored not just in our minds but in our physical bodies—in our muscles, breath, and nervous system.

Because trauma is stored in the body, not the mind, true healing requires working with the sensations, impulses, and protective patterns that live beneath conscious awareness. Through gentle awareness practices, breathwork, movement, and guided attention to physical sensations, somatic therapy helps you access and release patterns that may be difficult to reach through talk therapy alone.

The body remembers what the mind can't resolve. Stress physiology, unfinished survival responses, and old patterns of protection live in the tissues. When we work directly with the body, those long-held imprints finally have a chance to complete, release, and transform—creating lasting change at the level of the nervous system.
